Meet The Money Meister - Beth Duggar Chavez of Primerica Financial Services

Welcome to Business Spotlight #3 with Beth Duggar Chavez of Primerica Financial Services.   I have known Beth for 18 years.  My nickname for Beth is "Queenie"!  This is my term of endearment reserved only for Beth; she is nearly 6' tall and she is tall and noble in spirit and heart as well!  She has raised three children, all big boys, as a single mother and I am so proud of her!  She put herself through college with 3 small children with no financial support, works full time as a high school teacher, and works on her business on the side.   Now, let's meet Beth!

Kelly:  Hello, Beth and thank you for joining me here today! Tell us, how young are you?

Beth:  Let’s just say my oldest son just turned 25 last month

Kelly:  What is the name of your business?

Beth:  Primerica Financial Services    http://www.primerica.com/bethchavez

 Kelly:  When did you begin?

Beth:  December, 2007 during my Christmas break from school.

Kelly:   Do you have any background in financial planning or insurance?

Beth:  My only background was learning from my own budgeting and then I did extensive research to learn how to better handle my own personal finances, and as a teacher I always enjoy finding ways to make a difficult concept easier to understand.

Kelly:   What motivated you to start working with Primerica?

Beth: A friend at church told my husband Andy about it, and when we saw this business, I knew it was what I had been looking for the last few years. The best part is I could learn more about how money works and at the same time have an income helping others do the same thing.  (Note from Kelly:  for years, Beth was talking about Dave Ramsay this and Dave Ramsay that, so I know for sure that she is truly serious about this venture and has studied, prepared, studied, read, studied, and pursued this dream wholeheartedly)

Kelly:   Please tell us about Primerica and what drew you to choose this business?

Beth:  The opportunity was very clear to me, and I knew I could be the change I wanted to see in others if I stayed with it. I love meeting new people, learning new things and helping other families realize their own goals and dreams all at the same time. The one thing that totally gave me peace was the fact that the company has very solid values and integrity, and we always do what is best for families. After 30 years in business, we have a long history of excellent service and products.

Kelly:   What is your favorite product?

Beth:  The very best product we have is the business opportunity itself, and then of course the Income Protection we provide for families.

Kelly:   What are the features of the business opportunity?

Beth:  The income potential and the joy of building a business, being a leader and developing others to be more successful is very satisfying.

Kelly:  What are your business goals this year?

Beth:  By December 2009, help 12 families become debt free, properly protected and save money.

  • Savings
  • Debt Elimination
  • Income Protection
  • Income Management
Kelly:  OK, so if anyone that reads this post wants to come to you for advice, or an evaluation of your products and services, what could that person expect in terms of time spent with you?

Beth:  Depending on individual needs and wants for saving money, getting out of debt, pay off the mortgage faster or actually earning some extra money (like for Christmas or paying off bills) plan.

I will sit down with a husband and wife to determine their goals and dreams and priorities. I always show them the strength of the company, the fact that Primerica is debt free and why we do what we do.

Every family will have different questions, but a typical 1st visit is 1 - 1/2 hours. We never charge for our confidential and individualized Financial Needs Analysis which is a roadmap to financial freedom that other companies charge hundreds of dollars. We are the company for middle America that other financial companies have ignored.

Often, we are able to help families without spending any more money than they are already spending, and many are actually able to spend less than before.

We want to build a relationship for a lifetime, so as their needs change we can revisit and update their

Kelly:   Can you give us any recent testimonials from real live people that you have helped?

Beth:  Recently, I was able to help a family in our church get 5 times more coverage for the breadwinner and 2 1/2 times coverage for their 2 grown kids for almost the same amount per month that they were already spending on their previous policies. With our company, we were able to put them all on the same policy, and now they are better protected. Kelly:   How do you get traffic to your website? www.primerica.com

For my family, because of the education I have received by learning how to better manage our own finances, all of us have a plan to be financially independent and properly protected.

In addition, families can save money on their home & Auto insurance with just a quick call and a database of over 20 reliable and well-known companies.

I love to meet with families to show them how to better manage their finances and plan for a brighter future.

The best product and service we have is really the opportunity to learn about your own finances and make extra money helping to educate people you know and love.

Beth:  With our company, we have a full service webpage, email and a complete administrative support system including trainings, education, calendar, planner, records and client services.

Kelly:   How do you juggle work/life balance?

Beth:  I’ve always had to live life with a mindset to do whatever it takes to reach the next level, be positive and stay focused on growing and learning every day to improve myself. It’s very important to stay plugged in, stay involved and remember to take time to rest, exercise and take my vitamins. This is one of the many benefits I have gained from working with Primerica is learning to do more with my time, energy and efforts every day. Most people start out part-time like me. I am teaching High School while I am learning to build a business.

Kelly:   Can you share some of your frustrations?

Beth:  The main frustration I have is with myself when I know I can be more effective and a better leader for my team and for my clients. My goal is to be better prepared, be more influencial and improve my communication skills to help people realize what their goals and dreams really are for themselves.

Kelly:  What role does your faith play in your business?

Beth:  It’s so amazing how aligned my goals are for business with my desire to serve God and know Him more. Being a good steward of my finances is a huge part of what the Bible teaches and reflects so many other areas of my Christian life. I want to be a good role model and a positive influence for my children, grandchildren, family and friends and leave a legacy of abundant living and believing God to do great things in the lives of His people. Ultimately, I see myself supporting ministries that take the Gospel to unreached people groups and helping those that have basic needs unmet like clean water, and to develop the means to provide for themselves.

Kelly:   What word of encouragement can you give a person to also start their own business?

Beth:  No matter how wonderful an employee a person may be, it will never be as satisfying, challenging and profitable as having a business that you personally are responsible for and reflects all your passions and desires to do something you love. The goal is to do something important for yourself and to be a blessing to others in the process. Always count the cost before you begin and then be teachable and willing to stick with it through the tough times.

Kelly:   Any other thing you would like to share with us?

Beth:  I’m looking for people who are ready for a brighter future and want to reach their potential in every area of their lives. The important thing is to explore your options and be willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to reach the next level.

No matter what the current economic environment is,  Primerica is a company for all seasons:

  •  Now more than ever, people need to be educated about their finances and learn how money works.
  •  They need the opportunity to earn extra money or start over in a new career.
  •  People need our services and our opportunity every day.
  • 57% of people dream of starting a business.

Beth,
Thank you so much for participating in my Business Spotlight! I believe that every time we verbalize our intentions and desires and speak about them that it continues to solidify our vision. Even though no one commented, I have proof that a stream of people came and read our interview.

I believe in you and know that you have what it takes to make this business all you want it to be.
Kelly
