Tribute to My Friend

A Tribute to My Friend

 Miss Emily Star
aka "Mu Mu"
Warrior Princess
Chaser of Cars

You were born in our home
in the deep of winter last year.
There, I watched.
Waiting,
Anticipating.

Stuck;
You required help,
Delicately
I pulled you
into this world.

Again, waiting
tick
tock
tick...

Time
stood
still.

Finally
You drew your first
breath
of life.
And I breathed.
Again.

Jet black + Glossy
Thick + Wavy
I was surprised.
Quiet, you grew.
The biggest of
the bunch.
You never
barked.
Ever.

Relief.

You were
the pick
of the litter.

So soft.
So black.
So quiet.
So gentle.

So so
soft.

I loved to stroke your
coat.
So shiny.
You melted into my
lap.
You melted my
very soul.

Your eyes,
Just like your Daddy's.
So soft,
So huge
So very doleful.
I wondered.
You grew.
So big.
So strong.
So brave.

Racing
Jumping
Leaping

When you ran
Leaping
I felt great joy
Leaping like a deer
You challenged speed
You dared it beat you.

With great gusto
You chased cars
Life pulsed within you.

Lincoln

The love of your life
Your soul mate.
Every night
together.
Side by Side.

When the time for love came
Into the night you fled
You stole away
After 4 hours of searching
In the forest
I found you
26 Fahrenheit

Freezing
Shivering
Quivering
But happy
I carried you back into
Our home.
So naughty.

Changing
You laid on my couch for
4 weeks
Adjusting.

And then
You blossomed.

The night finally came
You woke me
Quivering
Scared
Excited
In circles running
Frantic
You woke me!

We watched again
The circle of life
With great vigor
and in great health
You brought forth your young.

Seven
the number of
perfection
You brought forth
your young.

You woke me
and we watched
and we helped
and we held.
And we cherished
the moment, the hours together
The miracle of life
Wonder of generations

I will never
forget
Emmy Moo, my darling
that you woke
me.

Lincoln watched
Your mom Annie too;
fascinated, and very intent
on the outcome.

Casey and I
smiled, and cried
and rejoiced
with you.
So young
So strong
So
SO Strong

The next day
You were back to
Normal
You ran in
the back yard
Your old
figure back.

Jealous,
I watched in wonder.

Tired
you nursed your young.
Seven
voracious
eaters.
Sometimes
You hid under my bed.
To rest
Just for a time.

I was going to
take you
to the Spa
Just for you
As a reward
for a job well done.

I was so proud of
you

Good

Good Girl

Emmy Moo

Miss Emily Star

aka "Mu Mu"

Warrior Princess

Industrious One

Star of my heart

Chaser of Cars.

That fateful day
Puppies sleeping
All quiet
You heard Her
The Mail Lady
Lincoln and
You
Couldn't Stand It.

You yelped
and Yelped

I opened the
Door.

I

Opened

the

Dreaded

Dreaded
Dividing

Defining

Designed-to-Protect-You

Door.

I held you
bleeding
Gone, I prayed
We wept
We sobbed
We prayed
We sang
We commanded
We waited.

The soft brown earth

Cloven, rent, torn

In the springtime of your youth

Behind our home

Holds your body

So dear

So Soft

Jet black + Glossy

I'm so
sorry
Miss Emily
Chaser of Cars.

You miscalculated
I overestimated you
I was so negligent

You gave your life
Protecting us
and
Loving the gusto of
the chase

Next time I
will be more careful
My beautiful
doggie
daughter

Precious
gift of God
At my feet
night by night
you laid
under my desk.

Sometimes I
would forget
you were there.
So quiet.

Now,
the place
in our hearts
that was yours
is empty
but your memory
never
forgotten.

Struck down
in the prime of
your youth
and motherhood

I sensed
the other day
this one thing:
The Creator
whispered in
my ear
this:

"The way you loved
Miss Emily
Your precious daughter;
Her soft
thick hair
Her eyes
Her quiet unassuming manner
and her voracious
fighting nature;
Is how I love thee,
My Precious Daughter.

Your love of life
Your adoration
the perfection of your worship
Your love of the chase
The leap
The fight
The battle
Life Itself
Gusto
Voracity
Bravery
Everything you loved about your Emily

I love in You.

Receive my love

My daughter

My friend

My love

My Dove."

So now,
we must live
and
love again.

We keep one of
yours
to honor you.

Maybe
Jet Black & Glossy

Though they
will never replace
you
We will always
love you
Miss Emily Mu.

Forever

and Ever

Amen.

Thank you, Anne-Marie! That means alot. I am so glad someone read my poem.

I am so sorry for your loss Kelly. She had a wonderful life there with you. Wish it would not have been cut so short. A beautiful poem for a sweet doggie daughter. Blessings to you.
